How to Draw a Gorilla

A gorilla looks hard to draw, but it is mostly an oval head on top of a wide body with a flat bottom, plus two long arms that reach the ground. You add one part at a time, from the head down to the curves on the chest. Draw lightly with your pencil, and use the tracing sheet first if you want to warm up on the lines.

  4. Step 4 of 7

Draw two round feet at the bottom of the body, side by side.

  5. Step 5 of 7

Add a small ear on each side of the head, then draw an oval inside the head for the face.

  6. Step 6 of 7

Draw two eyes with a curved brow above them, two small nostrils and a friendly smile.

  7. Step 7 of 7

Finish with two curved lines across the chest, then color your gorilla.

Questions and answers

How do I make the gorilla's arms look long and strong?
Draw each arm as two long curves that start at the shoulder and run all the way down to the ground, then end with a big round fist. Making the arm a little wider at the top makes it look stronger.
Where do the two curves on the chest go?
Draw them side by side across the chest so they meet in the middle, like two soft smiles. They give the chest its wide, strong look.
