Pig Coloring Pages

This pig has a round, plump body, a big round head with no neck, short tapered legs with split hooves, a flat round snout with two nostrils, two rounded triangle ears with the front one tipping forward, and a tail that curls like a spring. The little page, for ages 3 to 5, shows only the pig in very thick lines. The kids page, for ages 6 to 8, puts it on the grass by a fence, and the detailed page adds hills, a barn, flowers, birds and a mud puddle.

How to use this coloring page

  • Little level: color the whole pig pink first, then make the snout and the ears a darker pink.
  • Kids level: green grass, a brown fence and a blue sky with a yellow sun make a quick farm scene.
  • Detailed level: give the mud puddle a brown color and the barn a red one so the pink pig stands out.
  • At school, pair the page with a farm song and ask the children what other animals live on a farm.
  • Print at 100% on plain paper. Thicker paper helps if you use markers for the big pink body.

Pip's idea

Give the pig muddy spots of different browns, or color it with polka dots and stripes for a party pig.

Questions and answers

Why do pigs roll in mud?
Pigs roll in mud to keep cool on warm days. The wet mud on their skin also helps protect it from the sun, so the puddle on the detailed page is a happy place for a pig.
What sound does a pig make?
A pig grunts and squeals, and in English we say it goes oink. Children can practise a friendly oink while they color the snout.
Which pig page suits a three-year-old?
The little level, for ages 3 to 5. It shows just the pig with very thick lines and a few big shapes, so the body, ears and snout are easy to fill in.
