Cheetah Coloring Pages

The cheetah is a slim, long-legged cat covered in solid black spots, with dark lines running from its eyes down to its mouth. There is a level for every age: very thick outlines, a few big shapes and no background for ages three to five; thick lines for six to eight; and finer lines with more areas to color for nine to twelve. Cheetah facts for kids

  • Cheetahs live in Africa, mostly on open grassland.
  • A cheetah is a big cat with a slim body and long legs, built for running very fast over short distances.
  • Cheetahs have black lines on their faces that run from the corners of the eyes down to the mouth, like dark tear tracks.
  • A cheetah's long tail helps it keep its balance when it turns quickly.
  • Cheetahs cannot roar like lions. They purr and make high chirping sounds instead.

How to use this coloring page

  • Little level, ages 3 to 5: try a fat crayon in golden yellow for the coat, then add black spots at the end with a thick marker.
  • Ages 6 to 8: the kids level is a good moment to practice small, round spots with a black marker or a sharp pencil.
  • Ages 9 to 12: the detailed level has finer lines and more areas, so colored pencils give you good control over the golden coat.
  • Print at 100% on A4 or Letter. Plain paper is fine for pencils, but a thicker sheet stops black marker spots from showing through.

Pip's idea

Invent a nighttime cheetah: color the coat deep blue and the spots in glowing yellow and white, as if the fur were sprinkled with confetti.

Questions and answers

How do I color a cheetah so it does not look like a leopard?
Give the cheetah solid, round black spots rather than rings, and do not forget the two dark tear lines from the eyes to the mouth. Those lines are the cheetah's special mark.
What colors do I need for a cheetah?
A golden yellow or sandy tan for the coat, cream or white for the belly and chest, and black for the spots and the lines on the face.
