How to Draw a Wildebeest
A wildebeest looks big and rugged, but it starts with two ovals: a large one for the body and a longer one for the head, tipped down at the front. Then you add a thick neck, four long thin legs, a shaggy mane and beard, a pair of curved horns and a tail with a tuft. Take the eight steps one at a time, and print the tracing worksheet if you want to practice over the lines first.

Step 3 of 8
Join the head to the body with two lines to make a thick neck.
Step 4 of 8
Give your wildebeest four long, thin legs under the body.
Step 5 of 8
Add a smooth mane along the back of the neck, and a shaggy beard hanging under the throat.
Step 6 of 8
Draw a curved horn on top of the head, and a second horn peeking out behind it.
Step 7 of 8
Draw a long tail at the back of the body, with a tuft at the end.
Step 8 of 8
Finish the face with a dot for the eye, a small nostril and a little mouth.

Questions and answers
- How do I draw the wildebeest's beard?
- Start at the throat and draw a droopy shape that hangs down, then add a couple of short wavy lines inside it if you like. It should look shaggy, so do not worry about making it even.
- What if the horns come out too small?
- Draw the first horn rising from the top of the head and bending outward at the tip. If you do not like it, erase and try a bigger curve. The second horn sits behind the first, so only part of it shows.
