Gazelle Coloring Pages

The Thomson's gazelle is a small, slender antelope from the grasslands of East Africa, with ringed horns that curve back and a bold dark stripe along its side. On these pages it springs into the air with its legs stretched out, so it is a lively animal to color. The little page, for ages 3 to 5, has very thick outlines, a few big shapes and no background. The kids page, for ages 6 to 8, has thick lines, and the detailed page, for ages 9 to 12, adds finer lines and a full savanna.

How to use this coloring page

  • Little level: chunky crayons suit the big shapes. Color the body tan first and finish with a dark crayon on the horns.
  • Kids level: tan for the back, white for the belly and a dark brown for the side stripe. Three colors are enough.
  • Detailed level: color the rings on the horns in two shades of brown, pressing harder on every other ring.
  • In class, ask the children to jump like a gazelle, then let them color the sky and grass around it.
  • Print at 100% on plain paper. Slightly thicker paper helps if you use markers for the sky.

Pip's idea

Draw little lines of movement behind the gazelle's back legs and a small puff of dust on the grass, so it looks as if it just jumped up.
